Tidak ada yang diambil daripada himpunan memori bangsa Melayu sendiri.
Teringat pula Fakir pada kata-kata Tuan Dr. Goh Chok Tong semasa berucapa kepada seluruh warga Singapura melalui SBC (27 Julai 1997);

Dan baru-baru ini, dalam lawatannya ke Malaysia, Tuan Lee Kuan Yew kelihatan berkecil hati sedikit pada generasi mudanya yang tidak lagi menganggap beliau sebagai idola, tetapi orang seperti Obama, Tom Cruise, David Beckham …
Kita perlu berubah daripada Melayu yang belum begitu maju kepada Melayu yang lebih maju.
Tidak perlu menjadi orang lain.
